Fashion Secession! (i.e., a new forum)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : People Photography : One Thread

It seems to me that the main areas of concern of this forum have been and continue to be quite different from those encountered in most contemporary fashion photography. With Shawn changing direction and the demise of the Photoshopper forums (which were pretty crappy anyway), I have decided to create a new Fashion Photography forum at Yahoo Groups. In order to minimize the appearance of the garbage posts that were polluting the Photoshopper forum, I've created a companion forum for photographer/model contacts. (I'll of course continue to post here, but I'd like to see more discussion of marketable fashion shots.)

[Viking Battle] Good luck with your new Fashion Photography and - Contracts forums. I hope they go well. For myself, I find the advertising on Y sufficiently annoying that I probably will not be participating much.

However, this raises a question for me: there seems to be a lot of photography forums around theses days. (I was recently looking into stock photography, and there are at least three important dicsussion boards and a newsgroup / mailing list.) Is it worthwhile having an admin posting here where people can add pointers to other forums having to do with People Photography? I do not propose to add all photography forums, just those that may be interesting to the people on this list.

Let me know what you all think.

Yahoo Groups just merged with Egroups last week. I don't know what they looked like before, but right now there's just one tiny banner ad at the top of each page, and one sponsor at the bottom of each e- mail. I didn't even notice them until I looked after reading your message.

John you can use the fashion category on www.usefilm.com if you want instead of the files section of egroups which gets annoying, I'm on your list already but I think you might find it easier to use the site. Right now the fashion section is empty but the site is abuzz with new images.

Let me know if i can help.

Thanks, Altaf. This is a great idea. I'll post some of my shots to get things started.

I also plan to scan and post some published fashion shots for comment (under fair use), but since I don't think that matches the purpose of UseFilm, I'll still post those to YahooGroups.

Enjoy, usefilm is for images that the participating photographers take, don't upload images other than the ones you own the copyright to.
