The teams should have to build a machine that cuts trees and has to saw them up into lumber.

I think this would fall into the "dangerous" category. Cutting down trees is always dangerous and sawing large logs would involve a large blade of some kind.

Now, a stump puller might be interesting.

Little trees like christmas tree plantation that has gone bust. Christmas trees would be safe enough. Plus shears vs saw would be two ways to skin the cat. No lumber just cut them down.
