Great work Mr PSP. Now, if anybody could arrange a local "disaster" in Leazes Terrace, it could be completed right the way roond.

Well they managed to burn down the Leazes arcade just round the corner (the old Synagogue opposite the club doon the lane) about ten years ago, so they just need to find out who the bloke was that did that one.........good bit of bizzo.

It would also give the person who did it the opportunity to redress the balance after they wiped out wor kids' computer shop that was in there......bastards!

BTW Rik......I like your idea of having a multi-story car park in the Gallowgate end.....make a bit of money on the side during the week when the ground is empty.....I take it thats what those runways are for anyway!.

Looking at that like, I actually believe we could build on the east stand too, but not on the gallowgate corner.

You know 'just an extension of seating' not more room for another 80 chefs.............

At least with the bulkness of our stadium on this picture, it seems as if a local chef will always have work.

Excuse me Mr Smith, can I suggest that if a wall is taken straight back over the East Stand where the Gallowgate and Leazes stands roof finishes, you could then build a three/four story block on top of the existing East Stand, you could put glass across the front and make EVEN MORE Corporate boxes, no one could fall out as the glass would stop them, and you could mould the two corners to match the rest, but as they wouldn't be able to see tyhe pitch, you could make the back of the moulding glass and turnthe area's into restraunts, and give your fable chef's a little more work to do.

This would then allow the building of the ground to the same level and balance all round without actually going backwards into the student accomodation behind........

Can anyone tell me what ever happened to the trees down that side.....you know, the ones we used to climb up and sit in to watch the game......oh happy days

I'll have a word with me architect ITK, a symetrical sight for your vision with a little symetrical meal on a big plate, sounds good.

But make sure we don't employ the painters that did the advertising job on the roof behind Barker & Stonehouse's and the Milborn Stand. Silly beggars divvent knaa the difforance atween a full stop and a geeta than sine.

BTW - aah think aah can see Dougal trippin' up Straabeery Lane. Late as usual!

Smithy - while yer at it (so to speak) can yi see if theor's owt wi can dee aboot the sun? If it wad shine aal the time lyuk, wi cud tek the roof off and mek sure the grass graa'd aalreet. It'd be betta that the bliddy Noo Camp man, aah tell yiz.

You wouldn't fill it...fact....unless United were in town.

Spot on LR. United are there at all our home games so it's nee problem.

I wonder how much it would actually cost to make this kind of extension. The last one was a major job costing £45 million , do you reckon £20 million for the extra 8,000 seats? Then sell them at a budget (?) price of £300 per season , thats two and a half Million a year for the next 10 years including interest.

Not so far fetched.

The reason there are empty seats at the moment is that the spare ones are £70 per game. Next season, we'll have a higher attendance as the corporate seat in the milburn will be reduced.

It would probably cost significantly less than the other development if the club would just make it a football stand, you know, no corporate crap, just a structure with seats and welfare facilities and easy access etc etc.

Make it affordable and fill the bugger with loud people only. New ST applications will be assessed on a decibel rating.

If you were building an 8,000 seat high quality football stand with extensive facilities from scratch it would cost you about £12.5 million.

As an extension it would cost more due to the refurbishment aspect and the necessary structural alterations.

Isn't the main problem about extending the Gallowgate End to do with the land falling away and the small matter of the Metro station??

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2001

I don't think there is such a need to extend the Gallowgate end. If the East stand was extended it would make the stadium look 100% better and it would probably be a lot cheaper to do than to undertake the extensive structural work which would be needed behind the Gallowgate end.

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2001

Apparently, the Gallowgate end can't be extended because it's built ove mine workings.

East stand is too close to the road.

Only the milburn can be made bigger.

I don't honestly beleive it would make a difference atmosphere wise.

As the capacity increased, the noise level fell (mostly because everyone has season tickets now and there's no "singing areas"
