pledge

I live in northern VA, and for the past two years, we've had to say the pledge everyday. In elem school it was the same. For middle school and the first two years of high school, it was Monday mornings. It's really not too bad. Half the time you can't hear it, or the teacher talks through it, so it's not threatening or anything if you don't stand up. No one notices, and I doubt if they did they'd care. My question I guess is it just us that has been doing this or what? If the law's just coming through now...I'm confused...

Before, it was left up to the school to decide whether they wanted to say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning. Now, all schools have to make you.

The only time I ever had to say the pledge of allegiance was when I was in fourth grade (and actually only the last two months or so of it because I switched schools at the end of the year) and I always refused to do it because of the "under god" line. My teacher hated me for it, too, though she didn't try to make me say it or anything. That's another thing about it; while they can't make you say it, the teacher/students/administration can use it against you in other ways, sick as t

I live in Maine, and for most of my life my school just had us do it Monday mornings. They were always sure to say though that it was optional if it went against your beliefs or something. But starting this year, we haven't done it once. It's possible they just forgot about it though, because we moved into a new building this year. *shrug*

I hate our school, Amy. I hate VA too. I personally haven't said the pledge for about 2 years... I saw the topic of this and thought it was a post about pledge cleaning stuff.

I'm a nerd.
