Kenko converter

Has anybody used the Kenko converter? Is it any good? With my 105mm and 135mm it would give 210mm and 270mm, adding just the focal lenghts for light tele and portraitwork. Having the same close-focus possibility may compensate for the loss in aperture. With the quality of these lenses the combined result shouldn't be that bad, or is this wishful thinking? I can buy it for about $150. It is said to keep metering and-so-on. Peter

I tried the Kenko converter with the 165/2.8 and found the resulting image quality lacking especially at the close distances used in portrait work. I ended up with the 300/4 and it produces much better results. I was shooting w/studio lighting at f11 and F16, which equates to f5.6 and f8 on the lens.
