What is the difference between VCD and DivX?? I know a lot of DVD players can play VCDs, but can any play DivX? I've been looking for these answers for a while, can someone clear this up for me please... Thanks

divx can only be played on a computer with an mpeg 4 codec, (more compression) thats why you can't play divx on dvd players. Onless you convert divx to vcd!

keep an eye on the Korean market of DVD players, it is rumoured that one will be coming out with the MPEG4 codec built into its software. It should therefore play DivX movies.

As all i know DivX file is an extension *.avi, DVD format is an extension *.VOB, and VCD is an extension of *.dat.Currently the only solution is to convert the following *.avi file into *.mpeg, then burn it into vcd format by using recent cd-burn software like NERO.

For now there is not any DVD players that can play Divx, but wait. there was a thing in one of my computer mag's a few months ago that said that they are working on making DVD players that will play Divx. I hope that they come out before to long, but who knows when it will happen..
