Answer to the Trivia Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Remember this question we couldn't answer?

Arsenal cannot do it unless Arsene Wenger leaves, Man Utd have done it more than any other British club, Liverpool have done it once but not in the usual way, Everton, Oldham and Charlton have all done it once but Wimbledon will NEVER do it unless Crystal Palace go bankrupt.

It's that each club has applied to use their ground as a chargeable asset to raise finance.

Who the hell would know that? And who would care? Some sad git with an accountancy qualification no doubt....

Strangely enough I got the answer sent to me this morning and it was that each club has used an away ground for a league/cup game and used the home changing rooms....

I like your answer more although I still can't see why Arsenal CAN'T do it until Wenger leaves.....

Getting relegated and promoted in consecutive seasons

Arsenal cannot do it unless Arsene Wenger leaves - Wenger has in his contract he can leave if Arsenal get relegated.

Man Utd have done it more - Yes

Liverpool have done it once but not in the usual way - relegated in 1939 then WW2 promoted 1946

Oldham and Charlton have all done it once

Wimbledon will NEVER do it unless Crystal Palace go bankrupt - if Wimbledon are relegated they will have no ground to play on (contract with Palace will be terminated) hence expelled from the football league.

Eh? but Wombledon have been relegated?

And Arsenal can't get relegated 'unless' Arsene Wenger leaves isn't the same as saying he would leave if they were relegated. I posted the correct(?) answer (playing at home away from home) on the original thread earlier today...

Yet another answer to the trivia quiz - shamelessly stolen from another site:

Arsene Wenger has been quoted as saying he won't allow Highbury to be used to host Rugby League matches as it will ruin the playing surface. If he leaves, then the club may change their mind. Man Utd host the Super League Grand Final every year, as well as the odd international. Liverpool have hosted Rugby League -"not in the usual way" means. It was a sevens match and a cross-codes (union v league) match. Everton has hosted Rugby League (Salford or St.Helens, I think), Oldham's Rugby League team has played at Boundary Park and Charlton have hosted the London Broncos. Wimbledon will not own Selhurst Park unless Palace go bankrupt and the Dons become the ground owners. If they were, they could decide to host RL matches.
