Dr. Afarin Bellisario, Sc.D., Joins Fonix Corp. as Vice President

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2001--Fonix Corp. (OTC BB: FONX - news), a leading provider of human-user interface technology solutions for wireless and mobile devices, Internet and telephony systems, and vehicle telematics, Monday announced the appointment of Dr. Afarin O. Bellisario, Sc.D., as a vice president.

Bellisario brings more than 20 years of international experience in strategic relations, business development, and high-level management at multiple software and technology companies.

Bellisario most recently spent several years at Intel, where her last assignment was with Intel Capital, investing in wireless and handheld areas and devising strategy for investing in interactive entertainment.

Prior to her time at Intel, Bellisario spent over seven years with Analog Devices in various executive positions, including senior strategy manager, product line manager of strategic accounts, and international business development manager. While with Analog, she conceived a number of highly successful products and product families, specifically in the wireless and handheld arenas.

Other prior experience includes senior positions at Bolt, Beranek & Newman Communication Inc., and Wang Laboratories. Bellisario received her bachelor's and master's of science from New York Polytechnic, earned her MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and was awarded her doctor of science degree in acoustics and signal processing from the School of Engineering at MIT.
