(PV) trip report - Vegas

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Team SF : One Thread

Why not? maybe someone's interested. I spent four days in Vegas over the weekend. Conditions at most strip places are pitiful, with unreasonable heat even for green action. I got barred from MonteCarlo spreading greens up to 2 x 250. Got very poor pen at most places. The best games were at Treasure Island and Mirage (DD, S17, 65% pen), and Imperial Palace (DD, H17, pen as good as T.I. and sometimes better). Every place has many CSMs, cutting down on the number of playable tables, so it was usually crowded. Had a small win overall, but had to stay in three different hotels over four days to keep the heat off. jim

Vegas trip

What levels did you play at IP, how long, and what kind of heat? I have not really noticed any CSM's anywhere before, but of course I have not been much of anywhere lately. Are they in all Vegas casinos now? How about Reno? Are the CSM's made by Shufflemaster? Maybe the best bj play is to buy Shufflemaster stock!! DJ

CSM's are everywhere that I played: Mandalay, MonteCarlo, TreasureIsland, Mirage, I.P., and several places that I just passed through without playing because of the pitiful conditions; Venetian, Bally's, MGM, Luxor. They were mainly King models, made by SM. At I.P., I restricted my spread because the pit is so small, with the PC's always close by. Usually managed to get up to 2x$200 and down to 1x$25, but with cover moves. Never tried to go higher than $250 at I.P. I played I.P. a total of 4.5 hours, mainly on Monday, when it was not crowded. DD game is H17, and face down, but pen was occasionally great. Once, the PC came to the table and told the dealer she was dealing too many cards, and she should only go to between half and two-thirds. When he left, she went back to 75%. A better game can be found at Treasure Island, where it is S17, face up, and there is a cut-slot that sets pen at 37 cards cut off. jim

Pit Viper:

How is the game is Reno right now? Have you played there lately? I haven't been there since May of last year and at that time I was backed off at Atlantis. Peppermill will be home base this trip. I heard from a friend that the Alamo had a decent game and I have always had good cards at Boomtown. Any thoughts on Reno?

Reno (PV)

I have not been to Reno/Tahoe since October. At that time, I stayed at Atlantis for two days. On two occasions I had to go to full stealth mode because the pb called the eye to run the tracking software on me. I came out ok, though, without getting booted. Game was very good at selected tables. Peppermill had previously barred me, but I got a very good game there, with no problems in spite of a fairly large win. There are not many playable tables left there, though, since they put in shuffle machines. I got a very good game at Sundowner, where the pit didn't seem to care what I did, and gave very good pen. Boomtown was so crowded that I hardly got any game at all there. For small stakes, great games can be found at Alamo, Rail City, and, occasionally Silver Club. If you plan on going to Tahoe, Lakeside Inn has a DD game with a one-pass that is easily trackable. Let us know how you do. Bonne chance, PV

Pit Viper:

Thanks for sharing the info. One question if you please; how did you know the pit at Atlantis was calling for tracking? When I was caught there I made the mistake of not following what was going on in the pit and by overstaying my welcome. Just curious as to how you became aware of their actions. I am going to try a few short sessions there this trip but am leary about being made again.

The single-deck pit at Atlantis is tight. After several sessions, I returned to a table and sat down by myself. Almost immediately, a pb went to a phone that was no more than ten feet from where I was sitting, and clearly said something about "the guy at table 6", which was where I was, and, although I only heard parts of the conversation, he said something like "run the...computer...brown shirt..." I got the message. The next morning, exactly the same thing happened again, and I again heard part of the conversation. PV

Nice to see 4 players using this board now. I was out of country for a few weeks so was not checking in. I am out again FIRST 2 WEEKS OF mARCH. Then I will be in LV March 16 for about a week or so. I don't know if the one pass trackable at the Palace station is still there. you can also play the pro shuffle machine at sam's Town. The ST dealers do a bit of jiggery pokery but the shuffle is eminently trackable. John huxley is now distributing the machine in europa/asia. also one of the machines is defective on one side and you can get a huge edge if you can follow the mahine merge. the sides do NOT merge evenly at all.

Good Luck BJDAVID PIT VIPER AND PLAYERETTE.

And D-M don't you dare pass this stuff along to anyone else especially your boss!
