Why do I think Gwen is the Greatest?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

Because I now also think "feng shui" might mean getting rid of the useless junk.

Because Gwen can use the phrase "cried about a fluid ounce" and it seems like total poetry to me.

Because I think of her every time I do the dishes-and laugh.

Because Jehovas Witnesses are even more funny to me now.

Because if there were a cartoon me, I would look exactly like a cartoon Gwen, and I think that makes us twins.

Because she can write so that it makes me giggle and nod, and I aspire to write so well.

Because she puts her just-a-bit-off-center perspective out there for the world to see, take it or leave it.

And, even when talking about "boring" subjects (doing the laundry, paying the bills, feeding the kids, etc.), she's never boring.

Because she is real.

Because even though I've never met her, Gwen is more brave than anyone I know. She is learning to be true to her self and I admire that. She is also a fellow Texas girl and visiting her site reminds me of home.

I love drunken Gwen!

I second that emotion re: because she's real.

Also because she told us about the "zebra boys" at Halloween, and I still have that picture on my fridge.

Because she is strong through her vulnerability. Sounds cheesy, but it's true. I really admire that.

Hey Gwen,

You may have been drunk, but your latest entry was very true and insightful. I personally wouldn't want you to be funny all the time or we'd miss those little gems. Mind you everyone has a different standard for beauty. So fuck em.

Because she has an amazing way of making one single sentence blow me away.

Because I've always looked forward to her emails and her journal entries.

And just because.

Because she's brave and because she tells the truth about stuff that other people lie about.

Because she believes in the power of Hello Kitty.

Because she loves her kids.

Because my day is always better if I come to gwentown and find a new diary entry.

Because she knows what really matters, and knows how hard it is to remember what really matters.

And she is too pretty. I've seen pictures.

There's nothing like a good-looking, articulate woman with a depraved mind. Huh, Milla.

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2001

Oh yeah. Gwen, if you ever say you're ugly again, I'll find a way to get to Texas and smack you silly. I'm not kidding.

As Rayanne Graf (from My So-Called Life) would say-- with a big-old DUH implied-- "Because I live in the world."

I've been meaning to tell Gwen that ever since the thread on Irrational Fears (from waaaaaay a long time ago), I can't keep from giggling whenever I take a sticker off fruit and stick it elsewhere.

Also, further proving Our Gwen's Super-Coolness, one of my friends who is not Milla or Dwanollah fwded the "drunk" entry to our chat group this morning. Gwen is Universal. She just rocks, is all.

I love Gwen because a few weeks when we went to get our haircuts she told me I was pretty. And it takes one to know one.

I love Gwen because only she can inspire a debate on whether she misspelled the word wednesday on purpose or not last night.

I love Gwen 'cause I've had her in my life since kindergarten and even though she moved away and broke my heart, she came back.

Besos, Wendoleen! A-jua!

I think Gwen is the greatest because...

... she is the most interesting and moving writer on the Web.

... she also is one of the most entertaining illustrators on the Web.

... she is at once keenly witty and starkly poignant.

... she is funny, inventive and imaginative.

... sometimes, as in the my place diary entry, reading her words is unexpectedly quieting in a way that makes me smile and want to read it all again right then.

... she is pretty; I've seen pictures, too, on the Web. :-)

I think the real question is why on earth wouldn't I think Gwen is the greatest. I mean, really. She just plain rules. She just says things I wish I had thought, and thought to say as well.

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2001

Gwen, you know you're all that and a bag of chips, don't you?

-- Anonymous, January 26, 2001

'Cause the world is that much richer for containing that little bit of Gwen-ness.

I can't explain it.

Most of us can't articulate what we yearn for in our lives, or process fully what we learn throughout the day, that's what I admire, someone who intelligently notices and processes the world around her, and can communicate her anecdotes and yearnings without the slightest bit of corn. I tip my hat to Gwen. You must continue with that thought.

I swear to god... y'all are the reason I write anything at all. (And the reason I keep the forum. Heh.)

Thanks.
