Anyone notice eBay now has a Konica section? Konica must be getting REALLY popular if eBay is giving it isn't own section rather than in the general 35mm camera section it was in before. :)

Woohoo, way to go Konica!

New section means $

Mike........I did notice that Konica has "made the list" but that just means the prices will go up!! We still had a chance when it was an "oh, by the way" camera. Oh well, I guess that's progress?

and up.. and up..

Hi Jim, (and others)

It is very interesting that Konica did make the list. When I saw it listed below as a "popular search word" I was getting worried, because it was beating out minolta and pentax as seach words!

You are right though, the more people looking at Konica stuff, the more it will be popular and start to go up in price. Think we had anything to do with it? haha.

When it was in the general section, prices were a lot lower. Now, it is really hard to get anything cheap. Even the 3rd party zoom lenses are over $20.

But on the good side, most of us have what we need to use our Konica SLR's, just a few things we would "like" to have here and there. And, it also means Konica is getting more popular, more used, and more enjoyed. I wonder if Konica Corp. is watching eBay?!? It is just another Positive to make a new Konica SLR with their old stuff getting more popular and used again.

Mike.

ebay Konica list

Not woohoo, Mike, but boohoo. Something gets popular, prices will rise. The beautiful thing about the old Konica line is its unpopularity among the unwitting (of which I was part of not so long ago). I enjoy going the 'cheap route.' For example: FRANKIE'S CHEAP ROUTE 1. Buy and use Konica bodies and lenses. (Konica for 35mm; Pentax for medium format). If you want to splurge in 35mm, buy screw mount Pentax lenses with screw to Konica adaptor. (Pentax screws are a good example of demand making prices rise). 2. Send your color negative film to Snapfish.Com for processing, only $1.69 per 36-roll total cost. Think of Snapfish as your 'contact sheet.' 3. Select the few great negatives from above and have them enlarged by a good local lab. 4. Shoot medium format in Black and White (Ilford FP4 or similar, not the fussy T-grain films) and develop yourself. 5. Get yourself a decent spotmeter and don't worry about the in-camera meter on a classic camera. 6. Likewise, date cheap plain-faced older women. They satisfy.

Yes, I know I'm preaching to the choir. Good luck in your Konica endeavors Mike. (I see your name associated with Konica all over the web, Mike. You be crazed; that be good.)

Gettin Crazy on the Bay

Konica is now in the limelight! I too feel that the notariety that Konica slr's are getting all around will do nothing but make them more desireable and therefore more costly. I am afraid our little secret is out! Ebay is a joke as far as making a good buy on an FT-1 or a Hexanon.

Ug, see your point. Thanks for the wonderful complement too.

Hi Frankie,

Ya, I can see your point too. One of the first things I saw in getting a Konica SLR system was the Price ratio for what you got. It "was" just incrediable! The lenses were about 1/2 as much as they are going for now if not less. It maybe just a little trend though that will die out, I am not sure. So far, though it has been 2 months of price increases with prices going up and up.. eBay gives Konica its own section and more people are searching for Konica etc..

I use Superstore processing for $2.98cdn (about $2 usd per 24xp roll). So I can understand the price concern too.

You know, I think Konica is just a great system, but its Users are the best thing about it hands down. There isn't any other SLR system out there with as high of a percentage of helpful, friendly users, I am honoured to have my name associated with Konica. It makes me smile, quite BIG. :))

Long live Konica, its users and may Konica one day (soon please) revive its legendary SLR to use its K/AR mount Hexanon lenses. Watch out Nikon, don't sleep on your IS Canon, and beware Minolta and Pentax, the beast will awake one day! haha.

eBay's Konica section

I'm afraid I agree with the other posting that this will probably lead to fewer bargains for buyers, and maybe some more windfalls for sellers.

Still, it's pretty amazing that cameras out of production for 15, 20 & 25 years or more can generate this much interest (I'm not counting the current RF line, obviously).

On the other hand, if the old rules of supply & demand that Prof. Zubrow taught me in college still apply, we may see more of certain items come available, leading to some reduced prices.

We'll see!
