Resorves v Manchester City

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

It's been ages since we've had a resorves game at Kingston Park. Usual weather, cold, wind and horizontal rain. By the end, the front of my coat was five shades darker than the back!

No first-teamers on view apart from Steven Caldwell. Brother Gary was doing the hard man bit in short sleeves. Also a first sighting of Olivier Bernard - he DOES exist. The only known Man City player was Richard Edghill.

A bit of a scrappy game with neither side making much impression. They scored first and we equalised through Pablo Bonvin - a nice pass from Coppinger. We had a decent spell after the goal. Bobby and Mick Wadsworth were in the stands as usual along with Shola who was probably thankful he wasn't playing!

Second half Bernard suddenly came into the game making some lovely runs with the ball at his feet. Sadly they came to nothing. Tommy Craig got spoken to by the referee who managed to miss the Man City coach screaming at his players to "put the f***ing boot in!" The attendance was allegedly 800 but looked considerably less! Final score 1-1

Steph,
You deserve a B&W medal as big as a frying pan for turning out to watch the Resorves tonight - this must have been one of the top 10 most miserable days in history, weatherwise.

Thanks a million for your devotion to duty, and for your report.
Get yersel a double scotch down ya neck to warm up ya bones. Brrrhhhh!

Thanks for that Steph. KP on a night like this is above and beyond the call of duty. Was Gavilan playing or is he injured at the moment?

That's true dedication, Steph!

She only goes to see the boys! Well done Steph. Saw Bernard make his debut at St Helens. Sounds like you needed a St Bernard not an Olivier tonight. Did YBR fall aslepp again? He scared the sh*t out of Clarky and me at Hillheads - we thought he'd snuffed it :-(

Jonno, no sign of Gavilan. Not sure what's happened to him. Last seen at the training ground when I was there with Ciara.

Screach - YBR wasn't exactly animated but he looked awake!

I see Bonvin has been converted to a striker for the last few games and has contributed with a couple of goals, which should help him in his wing play.

As a left winger who appears to be able to finish, is he close to getting a run out in the first team if Glass leaves the club?

Gavilan is playing for his country in Hong Kong

Diego Gavilan has flown out to Ecuador to represent his country in an Under-20 tournament and will play for Paraguay against Colombia on Wednesday.

Gavilan has been allowed to fly out because Newcastle do not have a game until next Wednesday when they visit London to play Chelsea. The 19-year-old midfielder will meet up with Sunderland's Julio Arca who has already scored twice in the competition.
