Problems between EOS 300 und 380 EX

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I made some exposures with a bounce flash and most of the pictures are in fact underexposured. Does anybody know a reason for that? In some cases I belive that the IR light of the flash fireres. I think that means A-TTL. Why does the Combo use no E-TTL?

Thanks a lot Kristian

Neither the EOS 300 nor the 380EX are capable of A-TTL. The near IR flashes that you see are probably the AF assist light coming on & off as the camera needs help trying to find focus.

A lot of things could cause the underexposure. Could you describe the situation in detail. Distance to subject, bounce? how much of the picture was filled with the subject, brightness, color & distance of the background, slide or print film?

Do you make sure that the green exposure-OK light comes on after the shot? What speed film & which lens are you using?
