WEST BROMWICH BUILDING SOCIETY?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread |
Has anyone else had dealings with this BS? - I am sure they did not handle my case (repossession) properly a few years ago. I would be especially interested in anyone who knows of a solicitor who deals with fighting these type of cases as I am not sure I would get one who could do this as so many of them make too much money from the society's from conveyancing etc.

Hi Warren,West Bromwich aren't criticised that often by readers of this site compared to lenders such as Abbey National, Mortgage Corporation, Bradford & Bingley and even - recently - Halifax.
However, West Bromwich were publicised very heavily a few years ago for their involvement in Home Income Plan (HIP) schemes that left elderly home owners in very serious financial trouble.
West Bromwich were, along with Cheltenham & Gloucester (now the mortgage provider supplying Lloyds TSB), very difficult to obtain compensation from over alleged mis-selling of HIP schemes. I recall that the Investors Compensation Scheme folks had to fight these two companies through the courts before the companies capitulated.
On repossession, there is a list of solicitors in the Who helps? | Paid Help section but you would be best served by reading this site thoroughly first. Not many solicitors are very good at dealing with lenders, unfortunately.

WarrenI have had a few dealings with West Brom, in fact I am currently auditing two accounts of which should prove anomalies sufficient to stop the shortfall demands the WB have.
I am not a Solicitor, just a victim myself who now specialises in auditing accounts for people who have suffered loss. I have gained reasonable success to date.
