With today’s announcement, we should stop focusing on President Clinton’s actions in the past, and start working on repairing the damage he did to our legal system, our national security, and our political system.

BARR STATEMENT ON INDEPENDENT COUNSEL DECISION

January 19, 2000

----------------------------------------------------------------

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Representative Bob Barr (GA-7) released the following statement today regarding reports that the Office of the Independent Counsel will not indict President Clinton:

“This is exclusively a prosecutorial decision that should be made by prosecutors under well established procedures and guidelines. It does not belong in the political arena. If it has been made under those established procedures and guidelines, free of outside influence, the issue is for all intents and purposes, settled.

“With today’s announcement, we should stop focusing on President Clinton’s actions in the past, and start working on repairing the damage he did to our legal system, our national security, and our political system. Returning respect to the presidency and the Department of Justice is more important than worrying about what happens to a retiring President.”

Best said by the other Bob.

I never cared whether he got indicted or not. Lewinsky was the best thing that ever happened to this clown's presidency cause it diverted every legitimate charge. He's smart and maybe he was smart enough to have set it up. Don't know. Don't care. Just wish he'd go away---quietly.

Isn't Bob Barr the hypocrite who concealed the fact that he had fathered an illegitimate child, then called Clinton a "scumbag" for concealing a hummer from Monica?

Listening to Barr doesn't make you a conservative. He is the Paul Milne of the conservative side.

the damage he did to our legal system, our national security, and our political system.

The problem is that a significant portion of the American people feel that the only such damage that occured, happened in November 2000 in Florida. I see a lot of anger seething under the surface. Particularly with the fringe environmentalists. We will have to wait and see but it is my guess that burning a few homes and a lumber yard in Oregon is just a beginning. It is, once again my guess, that many people will no longer consider them part of the problem, but part of the solution.

Best Wishes,,,,
