Measuring coffee beans

In order to make a perfect cup of coffee, it has been recommended that you grind enough beans per brew. How do you know how much beans to grind for a standard 8 cup serving of coffee? Is there any way to measure beans to equal the serving size?

I use an eyeball measure-I could never count beans in the morning! Depending on what grinder you are using, you will have to experiment to see what amount of beans equals roughly two tablespoons of grinds- ususally the best amount for an 8 oz cup of coffee.

With my braun grinder, I put in just enough beans to cover the bottom of the template in a thin layer.

You did not mention if you were percolating, dripping, or french pressing. Depending on your brew method, the amount of time you grind the beans will differ.
