The remainder of that story goes:It ends an eight year deal between the Premiership and Bass Breweries and leaves the way open for Budweiser to be the new Premiership sponsors.
"Bass re-evaluated their option after protracted negotiations and we think their other marketing plans have greater value" said a company statement.
Premiership chairmen had hoped to renew the deal but Carling lost patience.
So what price the announcer on R5L Sports Report saying, "and now here are the classified football results, starting with the WASSSSSSSSUP Premier League!"

They pay £39m for the priveledge. I understand that Budweiser has offered £45M. It was still expected in the paper I read that Carling would get it but it seems to me that the higher bid will be accepted and Carling have been offered the chance to gracefully withdraw.I'll bet they don't drink Carling Black Label.

Can't see any problem with that.It happens all the time with this kind of sponsorship. The sponsor has got his name where he wants it and continuing to pay that kind of money dosn't bring a big enough return.
Off to register a few Budwieser related domain names.... se ya
