The wallowing in self-pity thread (no optimists)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just thought I'd start a little hideaway for all of us who like to wallow in that stinking, dismal, stuplifying mire of disappointment reserved by the gods for NUFC supporters.

Shunned as 'counterproductive' traitors and ordered to 'get a grip' it seems their is little tolerance for the fine art of realistic pessimism on here. So here goes.

We support (and I do SUPPORT and bloody love it) a worthless bunch of overpaid, undertalented hoofers who care so little for us that they rarely show any passion or aptitude for the game. PRIDE is something that their agents deducted long ago. We sing our hearts out for the lads whilst they play their contracts out for the cash. We've physically and mentally destroyed a long line of managers who cannot cope with our big time dreams and small time attitudes. We've got a board which whilst happy to line their pockets with share divis will not support Robson and indeed is working to undermine him with constant rumouring about his successor. We're run by property developers so have a big expensive ground with a Nationwide-class team playing in it. The cracks are showing everywhere, on Robson's face (and in his 'tactical' substitutions), in the gaps in the crowd and in every (and I mean EVERY) player on the pitch. Ever wondered why we get so many injuries? Same reason that an unhappy workplace has so many workers 'on the sick'. There's simply no heart left at the club, no grit for the job.

We are not going to turn it around, we are stagnating and going under. We are not going to win anything, we have never shown the consistency required to win trophies since the 50s.

There now, that feels better. Mind, if we beat the Yorkshire scum I'll become a fully paid up member of the Get A Grip Club.

HAWAY THE LADS!!!

Dread, agree, agree, agree, but as Mickey Burns once said "A fan is a fan for all that", I feel I have served my time with the Toon, the hopes, the promises but most of all the disapointments . Much as I admire Min for his rallying call, I am afraid that `tot o rum , over the top, goodbye Dolly Gray mentality is gone forever. People in main the young ask questions , blind faith is outta window, so I reserve the right to give em pelters, people on here say we are the best fans, okay but I would question that, 52,000 sell out this week for a match between Celtic, Rangers past it players for charity, Celtic taking 2,000 supporters to their winter training camp in Florida, the lower div fans , hail , wind rain, Thro crass mismanagement down the years apart from the Fairs we have achieved zilch, nor bliddy good enough, If I get down this year I will like dread sing for the team but with Newcastle I know what I am going to get , no pace , no movement , no balance , tactical naiviety , no mental toughness, no physical capacity, a load of highly paid tossers, not a hero amongst them, am I wrong for stating the obvious, does that make me a miser- able crabbie git, or am I just honest, truthful, who can judge.

This debate has arose before , it takes all kinds , I would never get on a players back during a game , or even the managers but is this what this forum is about, expressing our opinions aint it

The kakkems will :-
- Win the cup
- Qualify for the Champs League
- As champions.
- Win it
- Four years in a row.
- See the munch (who'll get the Golden Byut) in the England Team for the rest of his playing life
- Stuff us about 6-0 at their cess pit
- Win the game that condemns us to first div footy next season.
- Lose the game that condemns us to first div footy next season.
- See Monkey Heed knighted for services to the English language
- See Monkey Heed receive a 'Manager of the Millenium' award.
- See the Stade de Merde get every game that would have been played at Wembley. - Pip us to the signing of the most exciting, skillful and expensive world class player who ever took a dive in the penalty area that gained the penalty that cost us the only chance we'll have of important silverware in the next 50 years.

And even with all that to keep our spirits up, we'll still have a shit season.

As another indefatigable 'realistic pessimist', I find dread and buff's carefully crafted posts on this thread unnervingly accurate.
The following extracts are priceless:

"PRIDE is something that .. Agents deducted long ago".

"...tot o rum , over the top, goodbye Dolly Gray mentality is gone forever".

There is very little mindless, negative bitching on here, and passionate fans are quite entitled to give free vent to their disappointments and concerns among "friends & family" - this does not amount to either 'desertion' or 'high treason', as some would have you believe.

The vast majority of criticism on here IMO is intended to be constructive, and offered in the perhaps vain hope that by openly debating such matters it might just make a difference.

Thank you for saying it much beter than me.

Now send it to the Chairman in the hope that he sees it and realises that he just MIGHT keep the best and oldest asset we have. And that includes our 15 million pound striker.

Am I slow in just realising, despite being a Geordie, he might be a tosser.

Apologies. I've been in the 'colonies' for ten years.

Might have to head off back at this rate
