DAILY TOON PREDICTIONS COMPETITION

MATCH 24 - LEEDS UNITED (away)

After the midweek exit from the FA Cup at Villa Park it’s back to the Premiership on Saturday with a trip to Elland Road to play Leeds. Nice easy match eh!

You can almost bet that Leeds are still smarting from their defeat at SJP just a couple of short weeks ago on Boxing Day and will be going all out for revenge.

Well surprise surprise, since we joined the Premier League in 1993, Elland Road has actually been a reasonable happy hunting ground and we have returned with some good results for the Toon.

We have in fact gained more points there than Leeds have! In the seven games thus far we have won three, drawn two and lost two, which is not a bad return, so what is your prediction for this game, win, lose or draw, the score and first scorer.

Go on, have a try, it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t cost anything and most of all its harmless fun. Just post you prediction below and the system will automatically enter you into the game.

Closing time for the competition as usual is 15 minutes prior to kick off.

The results in the previous matches have been:

93/94 Draw 1-1
94/95 Draw 0-0
95/96 Win 1-0
96/97 Win 1-0
97/98 Lose 1-4
98/99 Win 1-0
99/00 Lose 2-3

Good luck everyone.

Onto the answers page:

After freezing my nuts off on Wednesday night, I am looking on the bleak side this week, and for the first time this season am not predicting a Toon Win.

For one week, and one week only.......DRAW 2-2 - NOBBY to score first.

I have to be honest and look at a 4-0 loss for us, with Kewell the first and second. Hope I am wrong, but.......

I was going to say 0-2, But Im in leeds and im getting some awfull stick from Leeds fans so I say 1-2 Nobby and Ameobi , Batty for them (just so we cant gloat too much).

Kewell's not playing according to one unofficial Leeds web site I read yesterday!

My normal unhealthy pessimism has been nudged sideways in favour of a reality check. 2-2 Nobby & Goma (call that reality?)

Lose 1-0 Woodgate

1-1 (Gallagher)

Damn it! I'm going for a WIN. YBR has the knack of engineering a good result when we have had some bad results. I guess its because the team only REALLY play CLOSE attention to him then. 1-0 to us: Solano.

STMBO goes for a Leeds win this week.....so it's 0-1 with Kewell scoring.....why Kewell......cos he goes out with that girl who plays the barmaid in Emmerdale doesn't he (!) I tell you.....I despair sometimes! 80(

2-1 Dyer

-- Anonymous, January 20, 2001

Gus......do you want to quickly rethink that one....Dyer is suspended this afternoon.......mind you I suppose he could score the next toon goal.....but it would have to be at Chelsea next week,.

-- Anonymous, January 20, 2001

No thats pronounced Solano, but spelt Dyer

Ooh, it's a hard one, but enough of that! I'mm gaanin' fer a hard-fought 2-2 draw. Shola to score wor first.
