I second this recommendation. Gerry Smith is a great technician and I have been pleased with all the work I have had done at Kindermann Canada. They have CLAed two bodies, three lenses, a visoflex and a Winder-M; also, they have replaced strap lugs and modified flash sockets to PC style. Service has always been friendly and helpful.

Cheers

Here's another vote for Kindermann and Gerry Smith. They will get all my non-warrantee work. Gerry is an amazingly talented and experienced guy - right up there with Reinhold Mueller. Canada's lucky to have two Leica guys that good. Gerry can tell more about a Leica by listening to it than some techs can tell from opening it up for a look.

Hey. If you need someone northwest of Toronto, don't forget Bodo Docker of Halton Camera Exchange. He is also Leica trained and very knowledgeable.

In anticipation of purchasing a Leica M6 I have been reading all the threads on this and related sites. One puzzle: What is CLA? As in,"I had it recently CLA'd."

Cleaned, lubricated, adjusted.

As the service level of Kindermann and Gerry Smith is so great, what're their service rates? Could somebody had their cameras fixed or lenses cleaned give me idea what level of chrages is expected?

Thanks. Fred

I have a 111F in for CLA at Kindermann at present. Quote was $260Cdn as long as no parts required - about $160US. Cleaning and lubrication of the collapsible Summicron $140Cdn.
