size of mpeg file in MB or Mins

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

When you write a VCD with Nero. Is it written in Minutes or in file size MB(megs). cos im trying to write a 80 min mpg and its gonna span about 3 disks, that cant be right if its in minutes, but then if its in file size MB then that sounds logical cos the files size is bout 2GB. i read it somewhere that VCD goes according to movie length in minutes.

thanks

2.0 VCD compliant mpeg1 is 10Mb per minute, so that a 740Mb data size will fit into a 74 minutes CD-R or 800Mb data size will fit into a 80 minutes CD-R. Is your mpeg1 VCD compliant? 2Gb is approximately 3 CD's if it is indeed compliant VCD2.0 mpeg1; That means the movie is 222 minutes or 3.7 hours (Green Miles is a 3 hours movie and that is the longest movie I've seen so far..unless it is the Stand from Steven King and that's 6 hours long.)
