But how could you *prove* time travel?

If you set the challenge for going into the future, there's no way you could objectively prove that what's happened isn't simply editing on the show. The same thing for a supposed time jump to the past, say, to the beginning of the episode or to the previous episode *before* the time machine challenge.

And if you set the challenge for travel to a past time period, certain theories suggest that there is every chance that your time machines would not land in the past of our timeline necessarily but in that of a parallel timeline, and that the "present" the machines would return to would be in that parallel timeline. But from our perspective, the teams would have vanished from our world forever.

Imagine trying to explain *that* in the courts!

Actually, building a machine to keep accurate time could be interesting, many ways to do it. only problem is the competition would be more boring than watching George comb his soul patch. maybe not
