Replacement for Ektalure

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I've been out of the black and white loop for a while, and recently found out that Ektalure has been discontinued.

Is there a comparable replacement?

Thanks, Bryan

I have not found a paper that compares with Ektalure G. However, Kodak Polymax Fine Art C is close. My dad who has been an advanced amature since the 1940's (sheet film and Speed Graphic type stuff) thought my Fine Art C prints were Ektalure, but when we compared prints from both papers side by side we could see subtile differences. The Pmax C is a neutral tone emulsion on a cream base, the old Ektalure is a true warm tone emulsion on a cream base. I havent used the Ilford Warm Tone material yet but I plan on trying a batch. BTW, The Pmax C gives a warmer tone when developed in LPD or Edwal Platinum instead of Dektol. Good luck, RO.

Nothing really compares to Ektalure... but.. Luminos does have a Tapestry surface that is really nice! They also have other great surfaces so check into them. Cheers, Scott
