lets work out how much cash for players we actually have - I know theres a bit more to it than this but at least we can come up with an approx figure....

In: Cort £7m, Cordone £1m loan, Lua Lua £2.25m, Bassedas £3.5m, Acuna £1m. TOTAL = £15m(ish)

Out: Ferguson £3.5m, Maric £2m, Charvet £?m, Howey £?m, Domi £3m (soon), need help with the rest, any others I've missed?

Didn't we sell Paul Robinson to Wimbledon for something like £1.5m?

so it stands at....

Out: Ferguson £3.5m, Maric £2m, Charvet £1m, Howey £2m, Domi £3m, Robinson £1.5m

Providing we get the extra money options on Howey and Ferguson(?) that is just about bringing us out at an even 13-14mil(ish)

Didn't YBR have a kitty of £10m at the start of the season, therefore we should still have £10m - or was that just paper talk?

I would guess that we still have the ten million to spend but Freddie Shepherd won't release that sort of money until the current transfer situation is sorted out.

Once a decision has been made a lot more money will be apportioned to wages.

Nice to see the Daily Mirror reading this board for their news snips!

FOOTBALL: ROBSON QUIDS IN

BOBBY ROBSON could be pounds 10million richer this week. The Newcastle boss hopes to sell Didier Domi to Paris St Germain for pounds 4m, Alain Goma to Fulham for pounds 4m while pounds 2m-rated Marcelino is attracting interest from Spain.

Robson wants to buy left-back Wayne Quinn, on loan from Sheffield United. That would allow the Blades to bid pounds 1m for Wimbledon's Marcus Gayle.

So the Blades are also interested in Marcus Gayle?

The Ronnie tonight reckons the Toon have agreed a fee of £750k for Gayle, but that 'other matters' are hindering progress.
I read somewhere that he has business interests in Lahndon that would make it diffuclt for him to play for the Toon, so that might represent the 'other matter'.

He clearly isn't wanted by Wimbledon, so I guess Gayle has to make his mind up whether he wants the opportunty to return to the PL and finish his career with a top Club, or rot in the Nationwide.
At £750k he's a snip, and IMO would be an excellent short-term signing for us.

Midas Soccer (No better than teamtalk) have said that the Gayle deal is off due to Gayle's agents demands and the return of Kevin Gallacher.

For £750,000 I reckon we should sign him anyway! Can't we deal direct with Wimbledon like we did with Acuna's transfer?

Amazing to see Daglishs purchases didnt lose the club much money- in fact i reckon anyone who cud be arsed might find his players have been sold to an overall profit, though Disco Des in particular might ruin the calculations. Charvet, Robinson, Hamman all sold with decent profit. And he got Glass, Solano, Speed, Given, Griffen and Dabs for good prices.

Pity it took a different manager to sift out all the crap and make an actual team though :-)
