In my search for a fuller understanding of Jesus, I have begun to read this book. Have you read it and, if so, what do you think of it?

Chris, I tonight, opened a Bible, given to me by my Mom, 46 years ago, The New Testament. Not to say I haven't read Bibles, before, But My Mom, thought enough of my future to enscribe my birth name, in Gold, on the cover. I open it up to read. I read the words written in red, to display Jesus's words. He said "If you believe in ME, then anything you ask, in My name, through The Father, then It Shall, Be Done.

i do believe that if you believe in the lord he will help you. I was lost, confused on drugs, and had no real friends, and no money. I used to have a somewhat good faith, but i prayed to have a women, to help me see everything that was good in life, and a job that would pay, my bills, and soon after that i found the love of my life, and soon after that i landed a really good job, i lost my faith in god after he gave everything to me, and i lost it all, i was lost again for awhile, then i found my way back, i prayed for the same thing again, but i promised to keep my faith, and i found a really good woman again, this one a better woman, and funny i asked for certain things in those woman, and he gave me those traits in them too, the woman im with is a very religious person, and she helps me with my faith alot. I haven't landed a really good job, but the job im at right now pays really well, all my bills are paid and some, but it's not what i really want to do. But im going back to school, after hearing my expected graduation date was much less than i thought. So yes, if you really believe in him, he will defiently give you what you want ask, but you really have to keep your relationship with him a good one, because if you don't i have found that he take back what he has given you.

Marcus Borg is a fellow of the Jesus Seminar. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what he says. The liberal scholars such as Borg try to make a distinction between the "Jesus of faith" and the "historical Jesus." By "historical Jesus", they mean a Jesus who was not God, who did no miracles, and who most likely did not say most of the things that were attributed to him. (The Jesus Seminar voted on what they thought were Jesus' words; giving themselves more authority than Scripture.) A Jesus who was not born of a virgin, who was probably born in Nazareth rather than Bethlehem, who was a Roman political criminal and not the Messiah, who was probably thrown in a ditch after his crucifixion rather than being buried and who most certainly did not rise from the grave. Their methods are subjective and don't hold up to close scrutiny, and are rejected by the majority of good Biblical scholarship.
