Domi set for PSG

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

The Sunday Sun report Domi's Agent as saying PSG have agreed to pay the Toon's asking price for DD - £3million!!

However, apparently PSG are about to sign Brazilian striker, Ronaldinho, fora world record fee of £40 million - yes, that's forty million pounds!!!

This means the deal for DD is contingent on PSG offloading three or four players to finance the smaller deal.

They say despite reports that the French transfer window closes tomorrow, PSG have until Jan 31 to complete the deal.

His Agent has reiterated that even if the deal falls through, DD will never return to the Toon even if FS follows through on his threat to put Domi out of football for the remaining two and a half years of his Contract, saying "Didier will not return to Newcastle, and I don't think Mr. Shepherd means what he said".

Well we'll see. Good riddance to another tosser!

Go on Freddie call his bluff!!

Morning DB - I really do think FS would call his bluff. I don't think he'll be messed around on this one.

-- Anonymous, January 14, 2001

5m not a penny less. Go on Freddie. what have we got to lose apart from £3m which we'd get back in Season Ticket sales....

-- Anonymous, January 14, 2001

3mil is a joke. Didn't we pay £4 for him? Not a penny less than what we paid. We're not paying his wages while he's on strike, we really aren't losing that much.

Surely FIFA or UEFA have to get involved in this. Players must learn that they can't do this sort of thing to clubs. Ban him for a year then impose a minimum transfer fee for anyone that wants to sign him.

There should be some form of punitive action taken against players who just flout their Contracts like this. However, banning them for a year (unpaid) - which they certainly deserve - would harm the Club holding their Contract, and who would almost certainly prefer to transfer them. Banning DD for a year right now would certainly preclude us from getting rid of the toe-rag.

Did you read that this cult that Domi has signed up to believe that England is full of devil worshippers... To the extent that there are so many Man Utd supporters, this is probably not as whacky an idea as it first appears.

....not to mention the mackems, dougal!

Further to this idea of FIFA/EUFA getting involved in sorting out these players who fail to honour contracts (an idea I mooted a few days ago) it occurs to me that it would be good to get agents involved here too.

All agents would have to be registered (perhaps that rule exists already?) and all would be obliged to pay a bond to FIFA (or EUFA). Whenever a player defaults then the agent would lose his bond and have to re-apply. The bond could go to the club as part compensation. This would place a large incentive on the agent to keep his players honest and stop them trying to engineer transfers solely to boost agent commisions.

Football agents seem to make Estate Agents and tabloid Journalists look like Mother Theresa. Short of their execution, this is the best solution I can dream up.

How about this BS from Planet Football:

DOMI BLAMES FANS FOR EXIT (by Ciaran Baynes)

Newcastle defender Didier Domi has claimed a hate campaign forced him to leave SJP, following his alleged criticisms of Bobby Robson's coaching techniques.

The French defender, who is thought to be about to sign for PSG in a £3.25 million switch, refused to return to Tyneside after flying to France in the week before Christmas, and The Magpies have finally admitted defeat in their attempts to persuade him to return.

Domi was quoted as saying that Robson's training methods were unprofessional, claims that he denied in a written statement read out by Bobby Robson, in the Frenchman`s presence at a press conference last month.

The former England boss hoped this was the end of the episode, but Domi flew back to France - with permission from the club - never to return and the player's agent, Ranko Stojic, says this was due to the reaction he was receiving from the club's fans.

"We hope this episode is now coming to an end," Stojic said. "It became impossible for Didier to stay at Newcastle. He was afraid to go back after receiving letters and phone calls threatening him.

"Didier was accused in the newspapers of criticising Bobby Robson's style of management and training methods. He was misquoted, but some people believed Didier had said those things and that caused problems. He felt his only choice was to leave the club."

Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd admitted on Saturday that they had given up hope of the left back returning from France. "We have accepted that Didier won't be returning," Shepherd said. "It is now a question of securing the best possible deal. We are negotiating with PSG and the player's representatives and, hopefully a deal could go through on Monday or Tuesday."

Well, so now we know the truth - IT WAS ALL OUR FAULT!!!!

That is SUCH a pathetic attempt to deflect criticism- sorry Domi, your an unreliable lazy b****d and everyone knows.

well, if he believes everything he reads in the papers then he realy is a misguided fool - cult or no cult.

What should happen is Fifa Eufa or whover should Ban him for playing for any other club till the end of his current contract, Also his contract is EXTENDED for any time he is AWOL so if he stays away he will NEVER play again. I hope FS makes an example of this but i dont think he has the guts in that oversized belly of his.

It looks increasingly like we'll get our money back for him. It should be more maybe but I think Robson will say to Shepherd, "Just take the money and give me it to spend on Quinn and Gayle" (As mentioned on another thread.

That way we see an end to this sorry affair.

NUFC.com carries the following regarding the obscene claim by Domi that he was hounded out of town by the fans:

"Precisely how he received these letters and phone calls is open to question - within hours of his statement denying criticism of Robson's training methods he scarpered over the Channel, and his mobile phone remained switched off.
Perhaps someone has been sending abusive notes via pigeon?
.

Gutless tosser!

Teamtalk are reporting that DD's move from Newcastle to PSG is "in the bag" and will go through in "a matter of hours", claim the French club.

Newcastle had initially insisted on receiving £4m for 22-year-old Domi while PSG were offering just half that. But the two parties have now agreed a compromise fee of 45m Francs (£3.5m) which just about covers what Newcastle paid PSG for Domi two years ago.

PSG coach Luis Fernandez had been told to sell players before he bought Domi but was given the green light to close the deal after it became clear that the club are set to sell Brazilian striker Christian to French rivals Lyon and Stephane Dalmat to Inter Milan.

Well done FS, and 'au revoir' Didier - tosser!

BUT according to today's Ronnie "The Didier Domi saga has taken a new twist with Newcastle United running the rule over a couple of Paris St Germain players on Sunday. While United and the French outfit continue to play cat and mouse with each other, Bobby Robson despatched his chief scout Charlie Woods to St Etienne on Sunday where he saw Paris St Germain lose 1-0. But as the Domi saga rumbles on it would not surprise me if the Shay Given situation was resolved in the next week with the Republic of Ireland keeper asking to come off the list. Meanwhile leading French newspaper L'Equipe have already listed Domi as a Paris St Germain player in their round- up of transfers made during the end of year fixture break. This is a bit premature, although there is also talk in Paris that Domi has actually been training with his former club which is a clear breach of his contract. Not that United will complain as they want the Domi situation put to bed as soon as possible although Freddie Shepherd is standing his ground and refusing to cave to the French side. St Germain would love to do a player-exchange deal with United and that's why Charlie Woods was in St Etienne on Sunday to see what is on offer. But it is debatable whether United will want the players St Germain want to unload on them for Domi. And after all, United have no had much luck with their French imports in recent seasons."

Planet Football say that PSG are looking to offload 21 year old Stephan Dalmat, an attacking Midfielder, who they bought from Marseille in the summer for £7 mill.

Inter, Tottenham and Newcastle are interested.

But we need a left back, a centre half and a striker. We are stowed off with midfielders.
