13points off relegation and very close to a Euro slot. Top half rather than bottom half.

Time to gamble on a signing that just might make the difference - in light of Shearer and Cort being well away from a return?

Or stick with it, and call this one another season in transit.

IMO make sure its Bobby who is given the money

ps £12mil for Mr Fowler.Joke - not worth the £7 we paid for our young crock

Personally I'm sick to death of the back of that van.....buy I say, but WHO? there are only 2 player I would personally spend money on at the moment - Parhars and Bridges....and they are both bliddy injured at the moment as well!

Sad thing is, even with all the injuries we've had we should really be 44 points. I reckon we've thrown 10 points away this season.

i agree. 10 points to add, plus remove most of the injuries. I'm happy with the way things have gone so far this season, depsite chucking away points and restless players. Think what we'll be like when we really do get a bit of luck....

You mean like yesterday, min?

I still think we should go for another striker.

It's getting to the point where I feel we should consider telling CC to forget about this season - take all the pressure off his rehabilitation, and concentrate exclusively on sorting out the injury with the objective of being fighting fit by the end of July. Gallagher is likely to play at Villa on Wednesday, but his injury record, and the history of this particular calf injury, means he could be out again at any time.
Shearer MUST not be rushed back - he is too important an asset to the Club.

Wrap that lot together with Dyer's shin splints problem, and it leaves us potentially in a very precarious position.
What do we do in this situation if Ameobi were to pick up an injury - play Cordone and LuaLua?

No, I think the stakes are too high to risk going forward without another striker at his juncture, and I'd still like to see the Club sign Marcus Gayle if we could get him for say £2 million.

OKay at the minute we need another striker but when Shearer, Cort, Ameobi and Lua-Lua are all fit we have four, then look at Cordone.

Do we say to Cordone thanks but no thanks. What happens to Lua-Lua, a £2mill purchase? Ameobi has shown that with more experience and confidence he can make it in the Prem, what do we do with him, send him back into the reserves thus deeming him a decent prospect who can't quite cut it?

I'd onnly sign Gayle if there was a genuine plan to play him on the left wing and I can't see that happening. Robson should cash in on Glass, who he obviously doesn't rate that highly or we would have seen more of him. Use the money and some more to sogn a quality left winger who will play each week, whatever happended to Bart Goor?

Sort out the defence in terms of who wants to stay and who wants to leave, don't sign anymore right wingers or central midfielders and we're just about there.

To be where we are with an extremely unsettled squad is in my mind amazing. I'd rather see the cash be spent on a decent fitness coach and some training facilities than panic buy strikers.

Frankly DB we should worry about it when they're all fit and we have real problem, rather than a potential one.
The REAL problem we have right now is that most of them are injured, and we are far too dependent on a 19 yr-old kid.

I believe Cordone and Gallagher will leave at the end of the season, and hopefully Bridges will come in. In that scenario I think Gayle would play a meaningful role next season, because we'll also suffer injuries then as well - especially as with one or two judicious signings we could be playing in the UEFA Cup.

I agree with de Builder in regards to purchasing another striker. I just can't see how he could get in the team with a fully fit squad. I agree that Cordone and Gallacher, whom Bolton are apparently interested in, will leave at the end of the season.

I'm unsure about moving for Bridges, even though I like him as a player. That'd still leave Ameobi and Lua Lua predominantly playing for the reserves. I think there'll be other areas of the squad that will need sorting out ahead of another striker. And remember about the time Shearer may be retiring Chopra may be coming through.

It's early days yet, but Quinn may be our solution at left back. However we're still likely to need one or two centre halves come summer. I could quite happily see Marcelino and Dabizas (unlikely) leave, but will be gutted if and when Goma leaves.

And that still leaves the question of a left winger.
