A water clock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

With only a hose for power, design a clock that keep close to reasonable time. Closest to actual time wins.

This might be difficult to do in the time given, but it would be a good test of true scrap use. Most of the work could be done with sheet metal from cars and a few gear from bikes

Getting the timing right is the hardest part, as well as how to actually drive using water... water pump run backward, buckets, waterwheel, etc... many possible ways to do it.

One of those was made on "The Secret Lives of Machines" (TLC show). Really interesting.
