DYERS PRICE

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

If Ferdinand 'a defender' is worth 18million, then Kieron a top worldclass midfielder has got to be worth at least 22million, 12million is just utter garbage. Do they think we are a warehouse to produce other clubs footballers or something?

As far as I'm concerned every footballer has a price. But the press talking of 12million for Dyer is SHITE.

Do none of you think a Man Utd Journo or something is trying to play a part in his value? Like haggling for fergie?

AS KEEGAN ONCE SAID, 'when you come to the jewelers you pay top price.'

This is also the same with Kieron - this guy is a gem.

I value him as the most expensive midfielder in the premiership outside of Newton Heath? AND I wont fall for the press valuation when debating on any message board, who the fuck are they to haggle and suggest for other clubs? It's not the first time too, remember they once ridiculously quoted 8MILLION for Nobby(worth at least 15million), and who in my opinion is just as good a crosser of the ball as any in the world.

Right lads and lasses tell me what YOU think Kierons worth??????

And lets show these southern tools(journo hagglers) the score eh, if your ever debating any Toon asset in future eh?.....

He's worth what the highest bidder is prepared to pay!

Smart @rse, I know - but also true. Recent precedent is always important in these matters, and as you suggest - whoever you are (!) - Ferdinand's £18mm transfer fee set's the base point.

IF he were to be sold, and this is not certain, unless he himself decided it was time to move on, I would suggest £20mm would be about the mark.

He's not for sale so it may as well be £100M.

Leeds is more likely. The Bowyer/Woodgate case is coming up in a couple of months. I think part of the reason for going for Rio was as cover for Woodgate being absent for a period of time. If they are thinking like that then they need Bowyer cover too.

Their problem now though is that they don't look like being in Europe next year and are therefore going to hit the same cash flow problem we have done.

And while I'm on ..... Peter Reid must have an interest in Lee Bowyer, ask Nunez :0)

The 'word' I've picked up macbeth is that Woodgate is going down, plus one of the others, but that Bowyer wasn't actively involved and will get off relatively lightly.

For that sort of money they could BOGOF (BuyOneGetOneFree) in my view. In fact, they could have any four of our players and I'd have them gift wrapped. Such an amount would transform the club, clear all debts and allow us to replace the four. We'd be in a very healthy position although this season could be written off obviously.
So every player has a price, IMHO. In Dyer's case it's less than £100m, but what is it? At £25m or above I'd have little hesitation in selling. Judging by his skill and the years left in him there's no way I'd consider less than £18m. The exact amount would depend on the buyer - I'd be more reluctant to sell him in England for example.
Let me add, I think he's a great player and I hope we keep him. I'm just saying that every player has a price.

This precisely the position I took an a similar recent thread Jonno, and got massacred for positioning NUFC as a selling Club again.

Good luck, mate!

Exactly Jonno. He's finally showing the consistency of skill to prove why we need to keep him. And the rest of the team finally performing well around him. However, for the right price....which would have to be ridiculously massive...I wouldn't cry that much if he were sold. I wasn't entirely joking on the other thread when I said £30mil.

I think we're all pretty much in agreement that if the Toon sell him for a fee beginning with a "1" that they would be letting us and themselves down.
