CM 99/00

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I have just finished my second season and placed in 6th. I have the confidence that I can win something next season as I have the players to compete. I tailed off in the last ten matches from a position of 3rd so with a decent squad and keeping Dyer I should be okay.

Can anyone suggest an amazing centre back who will play in a back three?

Pretty sure I'm going to sign Seth Johnson for £1.3 mill due to a relegation release clause. Hah!

if you're talking about the latest CM (00-01) then the best CB I have came across is Wes Brown.

I'm still playing the 99-00 version oof the game, hence the title of the thread!

Just thought I'd check cos there was an earlier thread started with the 99-00 name in the thread but they really meant the latest version.

Buy the latest one anyway!

Has 00-01 got any major imporovements compared with the 99-00, apart from the obvious update in players etc, etc.

Also does 00-01 take up any more space or run slower than 99-00? I was surprised that 99-00 runs quicker than the old CM2 97-98.

I wouldn't really call it a new version, they could have sold it as an update. It's got a few new things - interaction with the media being the main thing which is *very* good.

Saying that though I'm a CM addict and have had every version since it's release in 91/92 ish

What about the speed of the game?

What is the interaction with the media thingy? Can you interact with the players more, I'd certainly like to tell a few players a bit more than I currently can!!

I take it that if you buy the 00-01 version you don't need any previous disks?

the media respond to poor and good performances and theres also a lot of transfer speculation that you have to respond to.

I couldn't comment on the game speed, as, although I have quite a high spec machine (Athlon, 128Mb RAM) in general use (graphical games) it runs like a dog (something's incompatible somewhere). The game runs fine though, not overly slow but certainly not as fast as it can be run on a decent machine.

and no, you dont need previous games - its a full version

Cheer for that although I get hacked off with all the transfer stuff in the current game so more wouldn't attract me to the game.

I may have a look at the weekend to see if there are any cheap deals.

I still play the old 1996-7 season as it makes me so happy. It's always a race to see whether Les or Al wins the Golden Boot: nobody else comes close and Everton usually finish second for some reason.

That's the one I started on many moons ago Softie!

Everton were particularly strong for some strange reason. Neil Lennon was also a great player especially if you play him at the fron of a diamond formation on direct!

A brilliant little game that one. Always used squad rotation and won everything in sight. Only ever signed an attacking midfielder capable of playing left or right to cover for injuries: everything else was already in place. I went for attacking wingers and a diagonal run into the box from Beardo and murdered all comers with a direct approach. Luvverly. Les either failed to score or scored a hattrick. Watch Cole get injured at Man Utd every time.

LISTEN HERE, I shall say this only once,

Buy ANY center half with ANTICIPATION +15, DECISIONS+15, MARKING+15, HEADING+15, JUMPING+15, POSITIONING+15, at the lowest price you can with the highest possible Man of the match ratios and Average rating ratios. Take your time searching, you will find bargains, especially if you have quite a few countries running like. Use your scout searches to check the clubs of the players he has recommended too.

A little tip, when playing the game and your opposition striker is prolific in assist and goal get him marked, its simple really. I always finish the season as one of the clubs with the least goals conceded.

P.S. I WAS GOING TO GO COLD TURKEY ON THE GAME, BUT NOW YOU HAVE TEMPTED THE BABY WITH THE CHOCOLATE, I SHALL GO TO SLEEP AFTER A MAJOR SESSION AS A ZOMBIE, THANK YOU.

I've been pretty crap, but very addicted to all of the CM series. I had never won any Premier League UNTIL THIS SEASON. I think the 2000/1 game must be a bit easier as I won the league for three years on the trot. If you buy the latest version you will all have more sucsess.

I was thinking of a new challenge, Why don't we all pick a second or third division side, and see who out of us can be the first to get into and win the Premiership? We would all have to use the latest one. Any suggestions for the team?
