SQL 7.0 Database Resizing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : SQL Server Database Administration : One Thread

I have a SQL 7.0 Server with a database whose size is set to 5 Gigs. The developer who built the database told me that I could resize smaller after we have collected data for the number of years we were going to keep permanently. I only need about 2 gigs of storage and would like to resize now.

When I tried via the commands in enterprise manager, I was only able to resize to the original 5 gigs. When I tried to change the size property of the database it would only allow me to go larger than 5 gigs not smaller.

Is there any safe and quick fix for this?

Linda,

SQL Server does not allow you to shrink it smaller than its original size.

Sorry.
