PETER REID has been shocked by astonishing claims that Sunderland is a racist club.
Honduran striker Milton Nunez is ready to quit the club after claiming black players have not been given a fair chance.
Reid was stunned by the comments and yesterday called Nunez in to explain himself . The club prides itself on its stance against prejudice, and Reid and striker Niall Quinn are honorary patrons of the Show Racism the Red Card campaign.
Nunez is reported as saying in an interview in his homeland: "It seems unusual to me that several coloured players have come to train with the club but none have been chosen. If I found out that he does not consider me due to the colour of my skin I would want to leave."
