Friendlies for England

Can anyone recall if any friendlies/World Cup matches are to be staged at St James'?

England are to take on Mexico and Holland later this year as warm-up games under Sven-Goran Eriksson ahead of the testing World Cup qualifiers away to Greece and Germany.

Derby's Pride Park ground will host its first full international when England play the Mexicans on Friday, May 25, while Tottenham's White Hart Lane will be the venue for the game against Holland on Wednesday, August 15.

Not as far as I was aware. When I heard this news yesterday, my initial reaction was unprintable - then I thught we must have something waiting to happen. Otherwise, I'll be very cross.

They've given the freindlies to the crap grounds with the smaller capacities. Still to be decided are the venues for Albania and greece at home. We will get one of them without a shadow of a doubt as the N East has the second and third biggest grounds in the country at the moment and the Mackems got the Belgium friendly last year. OT is being lined up for the play off game should we need it and i can also see it getting the other remaining qualifier. Stu

I have no qualms about matches at OT, seeing as it is the biggest club ground and it's sort of in the North, more North Midlands though!!!
