Off to darkest Peru?

A report in the Journal this morning suggests that Nobby may be about to resurrect his international career in the not so distant future. A couple of things spring to mind here.

1. Solano is arguably in the best form of his Newcaslte career or at least he is sticking out far more than the rest of the players. This must have something to do with his more settled travelling arrangements! Solano denies this saying players have good and bad spells. 2. Why are the Journal looking to stir up even more bad news for the club? They must have had this story lying in their computers for ages now and only now do they decide to publish. They know exactly what they are doing and it is not helping anyone. I know they have to sell papers but this is a bit off. 3. Why don't the club push for the only sensible solution. A republic of Geordieland. Players would be playing for their country week in week out! The Imperial Lord freddie Shepherd would control the press within the republic and would therefore be able to veto any particularly bad stories about the republics only Football team.

It could be that if Nobby goes back in March to help peru, ACUNA could go back to help Chile. The two teams are playing each other in March with the winner likely to qualify for the world cup finals .Peru and Chile are currently in 5th and 7th place in the S American table. Fifth place qualifies, sixth dosen't.

Er Sorry Rik,

But if memory serves me right (and i think it does here for one of the few times!) 5th placed South American team doesn't qualify for Japan / Korea 02 but plays off against Oceania champs (likely to be us Aussies). I don't know about you but I don't think thta will be easy for Chile / Peru / Colombia / whoever. I think at the moment with the likes of Viduka, Kewell, Okon, Schwarzer etc.. we have the strongest ever Oz team to date. We shall see.........

Cheers Nige

Interesting this. I was talking to a mate of mine the other day. I knew him in London and he's been out in Oz and NZ for the last two/three years and has done his FIFA B coaching badge [as has our own Warren Barton].

He's now off to the US to coach kids over there and is 100% certain that an Australian or US football team will win the World Cup, before an African nation, by 2014. I don't doubt it from what i've seen/heard so far in my travels...

I would also say that Japan has a good chance of winning the world cup in the future. They just need a centre forward and could become quite a strong force.
