TOSHIBA SD2109 - Which Media?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Does anyone know the best CDR / CDRW to use with the Tosiba SD2109 DVD Player?

Or have I Bought a Crap DVD Machine?

I have not had much luck with finding media that works with it!

Many thanks

Tony

Not really a crap machine, that Toshiba; except that NO current Toshiba DVD set-top reliably reads CD-R/CD-RW. Maybe they will come to that, like JVC just very recently did (their 2000 DVD set-top models can and do read CD-R/RW) but until then, sell that Toshiba, give it away as present, or crack it with an axe, and get a recent Pioneer or Philips instead. For example the Philips 711 is a steal at less than US$190. More on this subject if you care to read the part of this forum regarding playing CD-R/RW.

Tony,

Don't throw out your Toshiba SD2109 DVD.

I own a Toshiba SD1200 DVD. I think its a lower end unit than yours. and i finally found media which my Toshiba can read a VCD.

The answer is Memorex CD-RW Platinum !!!!

I've never had a problem since !! Gregg

There is a very informative matrix of DVD players and media they will play at www.vcdhelper.com

I have a Toshiba 6109C.... It will play Sony CD-RW and also Circuit City CD-RW cheapies... basically a silver/black RW medium.

No CD-Rs work! go figure.

dont give up on Toshiba, it's a great player!

I own the same player(sd-2109). I have found that the Memorex CD-RW platinums work fine. But I have only been able to get it to work with an audio cd, I haven't found a way to get it to work with vcd's.

toshiba 2109 will work ok with verbatim cd-rw and also traxdata cd- rw will be trying others. think the medium needs to be silver/grey
