Response to a prime ´cron whitout serial number

Roberto,

You don't mention which lens you are looking at, but I have a 35mm Summicron from Canada that at first glance has no serial number. It is not on the front of the lens as is the norm for my other lenses. I specified a certain serial number range when I ordered the lens from a mail order Leica store, I wanted the last non-ASPH Summicron of a known version, and was quoted the serial number from the sales person on the phone.

Upon receiving the lens, it was indeed the one I wanted, but there was no serial number??? Then one day I found it by accident. It is on the rear of the aperture dial, on the bottom of the lens. It is hard to see, and gets more visible when the lens is focused close, due to the extension of the lens body. Look from the back at the aperture ring, it might be there. I would tend to think that all lenses have serial numbers... many books have the serial number / date conversion charts with no mention of Canadian lenses.
