Hello, I am new to this forum and I am trying to learn SQL server for my new project in data warehousing. I have been working on oracle for past few years and I have been looking at the books online for sqlserver. I was wondering if there is any web based source for learning more on transact-SQL programming and microsoft OLAP services. I also want to know what good books are available for my requirements.

I got to the bookstore tonight to check out books that would prepare you for data warehousing with SQL Server and use of OLAP services.

The best, by far, for that goal is "Deploying Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, Notes from the Field" by Microsoft Press ($39.99). This is presented primarily as case studies. In most of the studies, judging by the table of contents, data warehousing was a requirement. Thus, many of the chapters touch on the issue of how to implement your databases in such a way that they support data warehousing.

The other book you might want to peruse is, "SQL Server 2000, The Complete Reference" published by Osborne ($49.99). This has 2 chapters (about 40 pages) on data warehousing and OLAP services.
