dat to mpeg - doesn't work. Help!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I made a VCD using WinOnCD 3.7. I copied the dat file to my hard drive. Using Media Player 7.0, I tried to run the dat file. It didn't work. I converted it to an MPEG using VCDGearGUI, but the MPEG wouldn't play. I even tried renaming the dat file to an mpg extension, but it wouldn't player then either.

Any ideas of why this aint working?

Download the dat2mpg command line utility from:

http://www.glftpd.org/vcdtools.html

I've used it with no problem. Just tun it in a DOS box as in:

dat2mpg myfile.dat newfile.mpg

Oh wow! I just noticed it has a Linux MPG and VCD player listed there.

the DAT file is already in MPEG form. Try renaming the extention so it reads .mpg instead of .dat
