LR,

Out of interest and I'm not having a dig, how many season ticket holders do you have at Newton Heath and what is your 'corporate capacity'?

Dunno, I really can't think what would be suitable ? I'm happy to take on what ever you think is reasonable :0)

DB.....we have about 35,000 ST holders and a I dunno about corporate suites...e few more thousand I suppose.

Ok Mac.....tell ya what...just put a drink behind the bar for me..any bar will do ...lol

If only just over half your home match supporters are ST holders, then there must be an awful lot of people who simply apply for their match tickets on a game by game basis.

If say 50,000 others apply for the tickets then sometimes you'll be disappointed and sometimes you'll be successful. My point is that your average gates for the season are actually made up from significantly more people than most because a larger number of people have the opportunity to get tickets more often.

Cup matches are probably no different to any other weekend match in that respect, therefore you should always get near capacity crowds. Is that a fair point?

I would also guess that your Prawn Brigade is significantly bigger than most clubs by thousands.

That is the avowed marketing strategy. Visitors come in from all over the place, for some it might be the one time they ever go there, and the hope is that they will shell out on the merchandise.

That's my point Jonno. That way they have more chance of people applying for every match be it FA cup or not. It's not a criticism of the club really it's just fact and boasting about their ability to fill gates shouldn't solely be focused on 'loyal supporter' terms.

Db...yer point evades me I'm afraid.......just done some counting and it breaks down close to this.....

we have 40,000 ST and when the Commando Stand was opened this season, half of the 12,000 seats went to LMTB (league Match Ticket Books)..so in reality that's another 6,000 (sort of) ST's. So we have 46,000 seats allocated. I think we have 12 - 15,000 left to sell to members and if any left after that, to the general public. The rest go on corporate packages, away support, players etc etc.

"boasting about their ability to fill gates shouldn't solely be focused on 'loyal supporter' terms"

DB...this isn't true in our case....I'm part of a football forum, very much like this one where the guys chat and argue on the net and also meet up for a beer at the game (20 or so of us were in Brussels....15 at Fulham...25 at West Ham etc etc etc). Same people..same faces. You see the same faces at every game (ok...mostly the aways, but the fact remains that United's hard core..some 40K + are the same that have been going for decades.

Jo Public CAN NOT get into Old Traffford that easy....they may be able to afford one or three packages a term but the vast majority of our support comes from old time ST holders and members (as a point of matter, if all the United ST holders were to congregate on the pitch there would probably be a few hundred coffins out there)

Ok...I'm not being a cnut here but we were all under the impression that you had 99.9% ST's and 2 billion on the waiting list. If this is so....where are they when it matters?

I think you might be on your own with that opinion LR
