Region Free DVD/VCD/PAL player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have noticed some people on here looking and asking about region free players.

I have region-free dvd players that will play dvd's, vcd's, PAL formats, MP3 cd's, and music cd's.

There are a few newer dvd's it won't play because these dvd's check for modifications. (One that I know of is the dvd for "The Patriot")

If you want one, send me an email. They are $350 plus $15 for s/h.

Thanks, -Myrddin

How is that better?? 230 uk pounds is over $400 U.S. - and the shipping from UK to U.S. will be much higher becuase it'll have to come a lot farther... I'm offering my deal to anybody, but for U.S. people it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to get to.

Why pay so much. I bought a APEX660 DVD/VCD/CD/MP3 player for $119 at Sam's Club. It is working great. You can update the firmware to take off microvision protection. Do your research on the net to get your moneys worth.

or, you could go to circuit city and buy APEX1500 for $69.99.

I got a APEX AD1500 (serial number starting with a "D" at CompUSA) for $79. It plays almost everyting before the firmware upgrade.

The Daewoo 5700 is another good choice with firmware upgradeable similar to the Apex. Most reviews I read online preferred the Daewoo model. Burn the upgrade onto a CD and you're macro-free, and make it region-free by using the remote control. Do a search at vcdhelp.com and you should find threads discussing this and a link to download the upgrade. I'd post it but I'm naturally lazy and you'll feel better if you find it on your own. It's played everything I've thrown at it including one VCD that wouldn't play in my PC.

You can pick one up at Sam's for about $99, the shipping is free if you pick it up at the store. :)

Hi, everyone: Question re: playing a VCD

Just bought a VCD that saids its in PAL format. Will it play on an APEX player to NTSC monitor?

The player has setting for NTSC/PAL/MULTI on the remote, not sure what this is for? When the button is pressed, the TV monitor starts rolling (off sync).

Have not opened the VCD yet in case it does not work , want to return it to the store for credit.

Any ideas, anyone.....please thanks.
