Collymore on the cheap

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

We need him, he needs a big club, he's cheap at £500k (to buy)& if anyone can tame him, Bobby can.

It's a risk but can we afford not to take it?

Stanley Collymore is a lost cause, not even Bobby could put that man right. A supreme talent when he wants to show it yes, but we should leave him well alone.

I agree marty , the last thing we need is a disruptive influence in the dressing room, Id give him 2 weeks before Shearer smacked him.

Hahaha....

Not with a teflon bargepole - and not even if they paid US £500k.

Not thinking about it for one single second. Waste of bandwidth talking about that no hoper. Stop talking now.

I'd love to know the full story with SC. No manager wants him, he no sooner joins a club than gets put on the transfer list, despite clearly having talent. But we never really get any concrete 'evidence' of what's going wrong. What actually happens when he joins these clubs that leads to him being shown the door so fast?

I think he has a generally piss poor attitude to what is required to be a professional footballer. Jeffries at Bradford wants a tight nucleus of players who will fight for each other to avoid relegation and players like Collymore won't buckle down and work their arses off.

A snip at £500k. We can play him alongside Given, Domi, Goma etc to improve the team spirit. I wonder if we could get Anelka or Ravenelli to partner him up front?

Clearly the man is a basket case and not to be risked. I'm surprised he's managed to keep fit enough to play at all. An extravagant talent sadly wasted. I actually feel (a bit) sorry for him - I'm sure he needs psychiatric help. So would Bobby if he signed him.

The man can score goals, I'd risk him until the end of the season, then tell him to eff off, even if he had behaved. As for the £500k. It's too much, but I'm sure Jeffries would take either Brady, Serrant or Hamilton off us in a straight exchange.

What do you mean, either/or - let him have all 3!

Hmmm as much as I hate Collywobbles, I think I'd take him if it meant getting rid of Disco Des..... ;)

It must be funny for other clubs chairmen when this always happens:

"Hello this is Freddie Shepherd, Chairman of Newcastle United, we are interested in buying your *enter player's name*, would you be interested in siging two former England U21's and a gimp to make up the deal?"

It must be the standard joke at Chairmen meetings.

Tranmere Rovers could use the funds received from their FA Cup tie with Everton to finance a move for Newcastle midfielder Des Hamilton. Hamilton, 24, was on loan at Prenton Park earlier in the season and John Aldridge has made an inquiry about the midfielder who joined Newcastle from Bradford for £1.5million in 1997. Aldridge said: "The gate receipts might just give us a bit of leeway." Hamilton though could also be the subject of interest from Sheffield United, another club where the Bradford born player has spent a period on-loan. If Wayne Quinn's loan deal becomes permanent then Hamilton could be used in a player-exchange deal.

Two clubs interested??? £6m and not a penny less I say.

If he is sold will YBR have to come out onto the steps of SJP to placate angry fans?

Bradford Boss last night was trying to offload Collydog, Petrescu & Carbonara - nothing like getting your free add on telly, he also had a sign with "hello mum" on it.
