another stage shot

This is another stage shot where i used rear curtain flash. I wanted some motion blur but still needed to be sure there was enough sharpness for him to use it for publicity.

it's for sure the flash behaved as you planned. very effective. and a lefty! reminds me of another great southern guitar player, but modesty prevents my revealing his name. :)

You know Susan, its a nice shot, but the thing is, I feel like I've seen it before. I think you should try for new angles or approaches with this method- this one does the job, but that's all- As you've probably noticed, regardless of the excitement of the music, some musicians give a lot visually and some just stand there- I usually wait to see if theres some "trademark" look or move or gesture, then wait for that... Otherwise, you tend to get people standing at microphones with their eyes closed and their mouths open. Go for a new approach- you're past the beginning, stretch out some-

I would have to agree with Chris above, but let me just echo that this really is a nice photograph. It just has a nice feel to it. I like the little bit of motion blur that actually feels sharp (no, I can't really explain that, but the photograph reveals some beautiful details that don't seem possible with motion). But it is difficult to go for originality with shots like these unless the musician is in your living room or something.
