New Host is a Loser

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Please, please, please -- lose the new U.S. host! The UK hosts are excellent: they contibute to the enjoyment of the show through low-key interactions and subtle humour.

The new bozo is a pain in the ass. He is obnoxious, annoying and vapid. He detracts from my enjoyment of the program. Let's gte back to the original!!

Richard, There are two shows now. Junkyard Wars, in the states, with George and Cathy. And Scrapheap Challenge, in Britain, with Robert and Cathy. Watch the one you want . This season has been taped in advance so you can't just get rid of George. I think where they confused some people was when they started showing the British series over here to introduce it to America, they called it Junkyard Wars.....it was really scrapheap with a different name. I'm pretty sure that both shows will broadcast over here throughout the year. I'll watch both! I can't get enough no matter who's hosting. Hell I have friends sitting around me cracking more jokes than George during the show.

Well said! We had a pile of fun talking about / making fun of George. We kept hoping that he would get dropped kicked by Cathy, or welded to a post!

Damn, I kinda liked the new guy. He was not as good as Robert Llewellyn but he kinda grew on me. He seems to know alot about the labor work involved and his jokes were just as cheesy as Robert's. He does not appear to be as intelligent as Robert, and therefore does not bring that sort of wit to the show. But all said and done, I think he is a pretty good, younger, American version of Robert. He is almost the same guy with less experience and no accent.

I think TLC's ruined a great show--not only is the new host an ass, but the quirkyness of the Brits is gone. There's a lot more chest-beating and self-congratulations. After the first US show the teams didn't even shake hands! And why are they solving the same problems as the Brits did? (dragsters, football/pumpkin chuckers?) This is a slicked-up placebo. I hope "Scrapheap" makes it back on the air.

The new host sucks. Most of the comments above have already made the point, but he is so lousy that I will shellac him a little bit more. Robert was an excellent host, and the show was completely enjoyable. Now it seems like a cross between chest bumping/high fiving cavemen and idiotic contestants jumping up and down on the Price is Right. My fingers are crossed that Robert will return, complete with the wide grey tie.

soggy rice not nice. Not nice rice is only nice, and would only suffice, for a couple of spliced lice. Soggy rice should be stuck in a vice and be squeezed by a couple of sliced mice.
