Burr Oak meet (PTOC) reports

Tom Hanley set nice courses at Burr Oak (I ran the red and green). I like Tom's courses. He doesn't try to hide the markers and always sets a few interesting route choice legs.

There was still a bit of snow on the ground. It was melting fast. The temperature during the race was about 45 degrees. The conditions were perfect for neoprene socks.

The times were a bit longer than I would have expected. It took me 56 for the 6.8 k red course. The snow probably slowed me down a bit. But, it looked like the other times were a good bit slower. Gary T. was out 78 minutes. I think the next best time on the red was 75 minutes (well over 10 minutes per K). When we left there were still some folks out on the red course.

I walked the yellow with Bobbi and Kenton. Kenton often opted for the routes through the woods, while Bobbi elected to take the longer, safer routes on the trails. (Kenton usually was disappointed to find the Bobbi had 'beat' him (and me) to the attack point.) The yellow course was nice, with a number of good route choices and a variety of terrain. The snow wasn't so bad for us, but Kenton got cold towards the end. It was more problematic when Kenton became more interested in throwing snowballs at me, which caused his mittens to get wetter and colder. I liked the course and the area. Thank you, Tom and PTOC.
