How many months pregnant is Elizabeth?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Does anyone know if we were ever told or it was hinted how many months pregnant Elizabeth is? I think that Alex's baby is due in March so that would make her about 6 months pregnant and I think they are trying to hide how big she really is. I can't imagine Elizabeth being more than a couple of months pregnant and if I remember correctly Carol was not showing until her second trimester and she thought that was strange. I mean Elizabeth is not showing that much but you can see something, maybe they are trying to hide it as much as possible.

They do seem to be trying to hide it at the moment, since Alex is showing more than Elizabeth should be. I imagine Elizabeth should be about 4 months along by now.

I don't know the answer to this question but I was looking for an appropriate spot to say that I thought Elizabeth/Alex looked absolutely beautiful in the Jan. 4th episode. I never considered her to be very pleasing to look at until then. Pregnancy sure looks good on her.

Did it seem to anyone else like they kind of downplayed the baby's birth (and the actual wedding scene, come to think of it)? I was expecting it to be a major storyline, but they really didn't make that big a deal of it. Any ideas why?

I was very disappointed in the episode that elisabeth had the baby. I think they had too much sally fields, and not anough alex kingston. I really don't like the character that sally fields plays

i just watched the tape of "sailing away" from april 26, and i was really surprised that they didn't show even a bit of a birth; all of a sudden mark was just walking around carrying his daughter. perhaps alex kingston had some objections about having to do a birth for the camera? of course, i've also been told that actors really have no say in what the writers tell them they're doing. either that or maybe they just thought they would have too much if they did lots of both elizabeth and abby. but yes, i was surprised that they jumped so quickly from pregnant elizabeth to non-pregnant elizabeth. off the subject: i don't like the baby's name - ella? - that much. and also, i thought the whole wedding episode seemed kind of stiff. maybe a little too forced, or contrived, imho.

I think TPTB have decided that a happy, stable relationship is boring, so they have downplayed it. They give us over-the-top "get me to the church on time" but with no payoff in terms of actually seeing the ceremony or reception after all the one-disaster-after-another. Then they sandwich Elizabeth-in-labor/elizabeth-not-in-labor/Elizabeth-in-labor-for-real- this-time in between other story lines and suddenly jump to Mark holding a baby. Again, they fail to give the people who like this couple any payoff. In the process they downplay the soft, sentimental side of the show for a relentless focus on emotional turmoil -- and not even an interesting medical case for a break. I'm speaking as someone who likes the Sally Fields character and thinks the portrayal of just how overwhelming and destructive mental illness can be is wonderfully accurate and moving -- but I'd also like to see the rings, the kiss, some dancing, and the look on Mark's face as the baby is born ..... and maybe hear some choice British curses from Elizabeth during labor .....
