Domi stick violence

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

According to wor Ronnie:

Freddie Shepherd has read the riot act to Didier Domi in showdown talks in Paris - but there is still no sign of the stay-away

left-back returning to St James's Park.

And it seems likely that Domi will now never come back to Tyneside as the £4.25 million defender continues to dig in in his dispute with United.

And while Domi, a deeply religious man, could walk away from the game, the likely outcome is that eventually he will return to his former club Paris St Germain.

But in a visit to their stadium Shepherd warned the French outfit that United will not be giving Domi away.

The Chronicle revealed last night that the Newcastle United chairman made a hush-hush trip to Paris yesterday just hours after he returned from the trip to White Hart Lane in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

And the word from Paris is that Shepherd met Domi face to face with his agent in an office over-looking the Champs Elysees and then the whole party moved on to Paris St Germain's Parc de Princes stadium.

And while Shepherd refused to discuss his meeting with Domi a Paris St Germain spokesman said today: "The Newcastle United chairman read the riot act to Domi and told him in no uncertain terms that Newcastle United are bigger than any one player.

"He told Domi that as he was under contract to Newcastle United for the next two and a half years he would not be allowed to play for anyone else without their permission."

Paris St Germain are hoping to cash in on the situation and get Domi on the cheap.

The window for transfers involving French clubs closes again on January 15.

So United have 10 days to do a deal with Paris St Germain or face the prospect of having a £4 million player kicking his heels for the rest of the season.

Now, let's assume DD is on £20K per week. That's a cool £104K per anum (crikey, aalmost as much as Rik earns). With two and a half years left on his contract, that's circa £2.6M in wages. Would we be better to tell him to take his P155-0ff and gaan back to Frogland (but still hold his registration until his contract runs out and not pay him due to breach of contract, saving us £2.6M)? Or should we do everything we can to recoup some of his value and sell him at a cut doon price? Or shud wi haad oot fer what we paid (£4.25M??)

Personally, I'd like to teach le bátard un lecon (and aal them other contract mercenaries) and show that NUFC will not be held ower a barrel. I could just imagine The Fat Controler deein' that. Aal power ti ye Freddie.

So there is at least one other sad Geordie b@st@rd sitting at his keyboard this Friday neet! Evening Screacher.

Ha ya got nowt else betta ti dee man? No? Neither have I - nowt at all on telly. Fancy a pint(!!!)?

I believe I read somewhere that the Club are withholding Domi's wages while he AWOL (hardly MIA is he?). Technically, this is probably not in line with the terms of his Contract, but no Court is going to find in his favour when he is making no attempt to make himself available for work.

FS is a tough b@st@rd, and I don't think is going to sell him on cheaply. Got to agree with Fred on this one - make the toe-rag sweat. Sooner or later - probably when he sees his bank balance diminishing - you have to believe he's going to have to 'eat crow'. In this case I don't think he'll find our Chairman very forgiving.

Tosser(Domi that is - not Fred, in this instance)!

Not up for a pint then Screach? Oh well, can't say I blame you. I'll go and watch "It ain't all over yet" in that case.

Funny you should say that - just finishing a pint right now - given up any chance of having a pint with you! Gotta clear the hoose o' decorations, being twelfth thingy, so will likely be driving up tomorrow evening or Sunday morning. Are you serious aboot that pint???

I'll join you for a pint lads (says she just stumbling in from a night oot). Like I said on another thread keep his registration and let him rot on the bench at KP. Give out a message that we are not a walkover and will not tolara tolliret put up with merciner mersenri money grabbing b*st*rds.

You know, it's easy to criticise players - but I think I could mount a credible defence for Didier Domi feeling he'd been p*ssed around by NUFC since his mentor TDO 'resigned'.

I suspect the final nail in the proverbial for him was being instructed to attend a Press Conference to publicly deny saying what he really knew he had actually said, in the knowledge he would then have to face the Toon fans knowing he been forced to publicly tell a load of porkies.

This lad clearly isn't a rabble-rouser, seems highly introspective and a deep thinker, and I can quite understand why he might feel abused and acutely embarrassed. This is certainly no excuse for doing what he has done in breaching the terms of his Contract. However, IMO there are some mitigating circumstances, and I very much doubt FS travelling to La France to give him a good bawling out will achieve very much - beyond making FS feel a little bit better.

Another Toon buggars muddle!

CLARKY SLAGS OFF BBS REGULARS OVER DOMI FIASCO.

by a reporter, yesterday.

Clarky, BBS regular and toon fan for many years launched a scathing attack on the contributors to NUFC's unofficial BBS today. Outlining his case why Domi shouldn't be ostracised and criticised for his behaviour, clarky rounded on fellow contributors. Domi's been "p****ed around by NUFC" he growled. "He feels abused and acutely embarassed...and there are mitigating circumstances" he ranted in an early morning posting the day before an important cup-tie. "I very much doubt FS travelling to La France to give him a good bawling out will achieve very much" he continued. Seems that some Magpies don't regard Domi's behaviour as extraordinary.

Amazing what slant you can put on things when you think like the press isn't it? I suspect that FS met with Domi and his agent and came back mouthing off that he "gave him a piece of his mind" [as he expects all fans to support him on this]. Likelihood is that he presented the club's case, felt they were owed an explanation and discussed options to sort the situation out. Good point though clarky....;))

The Sunday Sun this morning reports Domi as saying through his Agent that he will never play for the Toon again.
Apparently PSG are interested in him (surprise, surprise!) but are only prepared to pay about £2mm.
The S/Sun suggest FS has told PSG he wants £3.5mm and will not be black-mailed into a cut price deal. Unless he gets what he regards as a fair price, he has told them he is prepared to put Domi out of the game until his Contracts expires in two and a half years time.
Nothing like making a clear statement of intent - and who can really blame FS?

-- Anonymous, January 07, 2001

I'm with FS on this....let him rot! actually even 3.5 is a pisstakingly cheap price!

How many times in recent years have we seen players blackmail clubs like this and we've all said that the clubs should make a stand? well now it's our turn to make a stand.....not only should we keep him out of the game, we should also send someone down to Paris to break his effing legs!

Gav,

I actually also agree with FS's position on this. I was simply pointing out there are two sides to this ferrago, and it's not all black 'n white.
I actually suspect we haven't heard all the facts surrounding this particular situation.

What I do not understand is that FS has said that he will keep him out of the game for the rest of his contract?

How? This is the same FS who will not spend any money because of the imminent changes to transfers?

WANKER!~!!

Exactly Gus,

Domi will walk away from this club for chuff all when this transfer system is sorted out. The only hope we have is that if UEFA make a special case because Domi was bought in the current transfer system and his contract reflects that.

I'm starting to think we'd be better off without the publicity and £2 million in the bank to buy a player that wants to play for us. I only think that if Domi can walk away from this club though.

Inside Bobby will have a burning in his Geordie Bobby to secure a cup tie against PSG, bringing Domi back to Tyneside for one match. I'd wager that the tosser wouldn't play.

Surely FIFA should get involved in these cases where a player refuses to see out his contract. Both player and club could state their case before a FIFA panel. Hopefully things could be resolved amicably or the club (if at fault) could be ordered to sell at FIFA's valuation. If the player is at fault FIFA could ban him from the game indefinitely.

That would surely sort out the likes of Anelka, Domi and others. We (fans in general) pay the wages, we make this game what it is (a multi-million business)and we are entitled to better than this.

Couldn't agree more Jonno.

It has gone on too long now. Representatives from our club (FS) have met Domi and his representatives and the matter is still not resolved. UEFA or FIFA should then be brought in as an arbitary medium to bring a solution to the matter.

Surely UEFA/FIFA cannot condone a player like Domi refusing to play for his club until he can hand in his notice when the transfer system is resolved and walk away for free.

One thought though. Domi is 22 years old by my reckoning so under 23 and therefore subject to a transfer fee even if the new system comes into place. So maybe we wouldn't be out of pocket, although funnily enough it could be argued, very lossely, that Domi's football education was at PSG in the first place so what level of compensation do we get. Mmmm.

You're spot on Jonno - something really needs to be done by the international footy authorities to get to grips with those players who are increasingly flagrantly flouting legal contracts they willingly enter into.
If something concrete is not done about this growing cancer in the game, there is a risk of it descending into chaos with players walking out of Clubs on any whim that suits their fancy.
