Too clever by half ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Ronny has AS 'back in training' already. Apparently he's 'working out' on a treadmill and as usual it looks like we're getting half of the story. The slant is that he's such a grafter etc. that he can't be knocked back, and might even play again 'in 3 or 4 weeks'.

Which begs the question are the medical staff in full agreement with this ? Seems to me he could do more harm than good if he's ignoring medical advice and doing his own thing again. Hope he's not being too stubborn for his own good. Maybe the injury wasn't nearly as bad as we were led to believe.

Plus he needs his tonsils out, and typically, the club want it done now - he wants to wait till the close season.

Don't be silly, Mr. Shearer. If they have to come out, get them out.

Quite agree Mr Bill where is the sense in having the operation done in the close season.

As for him back in training, I'm not sure that the clubs medical staff know what he really should be doing anyway!

Didn't see this thread before starting the other one. Agree he definitely should not be rushed back. We're doing fine without him. Much rather he take as long as necessary to fully recover. Being as pig-headed as he is, I have a feeling he will try to come back too soon.

Well he can't have any more cortisone injections so he and the club had better realise that this is a critical period if he want's to play for another couple of years.

Otherwise he can forget it and increase his duties with Sky TV.

The journos had all left by the time Al came out to the pitch so they know nowt (as usual). Caught a bit of an interview with Bobby on the local news and he said Al was on a "walking machine".

Cor blimey, the bloke still gets criticised even when he's out injured.
Give him break will yas - he's only trying to get himself fit as soon as possible!
Some people won't be truly satisfied until Alan Shearer finally hangs up his boots.
