Kellyc,

The most common consumer brand of capture cards are from Pinnacle and Matrox. The price-range for basic ones to edit home movies quality video is about $100-$300 US. Pinnacle makes a good product called DC10+ (that's the one I have). Matrox makes something called the G- 400 Matrox Marvel which also have received good reviews

Note: Matrox bundles their capture card with their video card, while Pinnacle does not. If you get the Pinnacle, check their website to see which video cards work best with their capture card. (I use the ATI128 and it is a good match.)

Also note: Pinnacle makes products for users with digital video camera's too. Since most digital video cameras use Firewire connectors (and not traditional RCA cables), you'll have to get a capture card that has those features. The DC10+ does not, nor does the Marvel (I think).

Go ti the DAZZLE site At www.dazzle.com. This is where I bought mine Video Creator USB. It comes with a Video Capture external Box and connects to the USB. This comes complete with its software Capture & Editing (Moviestar 4.2). You can also go to Matrox. Locate the Marvel G400 - TV Video Card. This also comes with a Video Capture Box and comes with Avid Cinema as the bundled software for capture and editing.
