Acuna and Bassedas

How are these two doing. I see that YBR has given them both glowing reports about their character workmanship etc but when I've seen them they haven't really seemed to do much (except clatter in to Beckham which was worth a yellow card.) What's the general view of them on here? Are they playing well? Are they good enough for the Premiership and more to the point are they good enough for us?

Thoughts please ladies and gentlemen.

Of the two, I've been more impressed with Clarence than Christian who looks a bit lightweight. H probably needs more strength around him. Acuna is like a terrier, covering a lot of ground. Plus he's canny in the air for a little 'un.

I think the quality of Bassedas is in his passing. He sees passes that no-one else does and more importantly he makes the pass rather than picking out one of their players. He just needs a few more games to realsie that he has to pass that bit quicker.

Opposing teams have given him a bit of a battering but he has taken it and is no soft touch.

Acuna, hopefully is a bit of Batty, Speed and Lee all roled into one, what a player!

Agree with DB. Acuna is looking good having settled in quicker than Bass. I think that Bass will turn out to be a touch of class.

The pair of them were quality against Leeds and, perhaps more importantly, neither of them went into hiding at the White Hart Lane debacle. Acuna's our new Bobby Lee, Bassedas our new Liam O'Brian!

Seriously though, add Dyer, Nobby and Speedo with Bobby Lee and Glass for cover and I think our midfield is very strong at the moment. Once we get some of our walkind wounded back in defence and up front we'll be a match for anyone.

Got to agree with a lot of that DSS ( u still getting married ? ), Acuna is no shirker , and Bassedas the better passer . Acuna is a little nutter , prepared to head owt adn tackle anyone . Bassedas has been given a baptism of fire and is getting kicked all over the shop . Im not sure about him on the left as he appears more adept in the middle of the park . Of the two Clarence is me fave , and he loves the toon and its lasses , gotta be a canny lad really :-)

The two of them were superb at WHL. With Dyer and Salano we were the better team on the night. Then there was the referee and the rest is history. After the match, which was the first time I have seen this 4- some play together(based in deepest Kent you naa) I feel totally enthusiastic about our short term future. Get past the suspensions and we will finish in the top 6 by the end of this season. It all bodes well for the next one in my opinion. I'm not so convinced about Shearer though. I think we have more options without him. On Tuesday night I saw a new dimension in our play taking shape and this is only at the embrionic stage. I think with these players we can take off on a new plane, less predictable than into Shearer all the time. Too easy to predict and mark against. Spurs were struggling to read our play for periods in the game. It will be interesting to see how the solid
