something in drinking water?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

We've been cleaning Winston's drinking water daily, but every night it has small speckles of something in it. Sort of clear, but small pieces...sorry to be vague but it's hard to describe. If anyone has any idea, let us know. He does have gingivitis as well, could that be part of it?

Thank you, Shawn

If you cat has gingivitis get him to the vet for a teeth cleaning right away. This can cause a lot of problems---loss of teach and blood infections. As for the water, try filling a glass and letting it sit overnight to see if it has things in it as well. Maybe you just need to clean your faucet filters---remove and clean them then soak them in vinegar overnight just like you would do your shower heads. Less likely, is your water from an old well that may be running dry?

If your cat goes outside, it could be those flecks of whatever could be flea droppings. If you have forced air heat and his bowl is near a vent, that could account for the water-borne UFOs. Or it just may be that Winston just likes a little pepper with his water.
